Stephex Group is an entrepreneurial Belgian group with international activities. To further optimise our purchasing strategy and identify new efficiency gains, we are looking for a Freelance Purchaser / Procurement Specialist who can take a critical and entrepreneurial approach to reviewing our current purchasing processes.

We are not looking for a traditional buyer whose role is limited to requesting quotations and placing orders. We are looking for someone who thinks beyond the obvious, identifies opportunities and explores how we can purchase more intelligently, efficiently and cost-effectively. From comparing suppliers to developing international alternatives, you will translate your insights into concrete business cases and measurable results.

Your role:

As a freelance procurement specialist, you will have the freedom to take a broad view of our purchasing strategy and actively contribute to its development. You will analyse existing purchasing activities, explore alternatives and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising on quality.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Purchasing optimisation: Analyse what we currently purchase, from which suppliers and under what conditions. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

• Supplier evaluation and negotiation: Explore alternative suppliers, compare prices and quality, and identify opportunities to source better products at the same or a lower price.

• Exploring international opportunities: Assess purchasing and outsourcing opportunities across different countries and investigate where certain activities could be organised more cost-effectively.

• Developing business cases: Evaluate costs, alternatives, potential savings and relevant risks. Support your proposals with data and translate your analyses into concrete recommendations.

• Exploring new possibilities: Challenge existing practices and investigate alternatives that may not be immediately obvious. For example, assess whether certain activities currently carried out in Hungary could be organised more cost-effectively in Poland.

• Delivering results: Turn proposals into practical solutions that contribute to greater operational efficiency and an improved cost structure.

Who are you?

We are looking for an independent professional with strong analytical skills, commercial insight and a results-driven mindset.

You will recognise yourself in the following profile:

• You have experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, supply chain management, consultancy or a similar role.

• You have strong commercial and financial acumen and understand how purchasing decisions affect the overall cost structure.

• You are analytical and able to translate data into concrete opportunities and well-founded business cases.

• You are solution-oriented and willing to challenge existing suppliers, processes and ways of working.

• You are entrepreneurial, independent and pragmatic. You do not wait for someone to point out potential savings; you actively seek them out yourself.

• You are comfortable working in an international environment and are willing to travel regularly between Belgium and Hungary.

• You have a good knowledge of Dutch and English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
